\b0 Brittany is strewn with religious buildings erected in the honor of saints, who
are venerated in their hundreds. Each parish has its own and while some of them are famous (St Ivo, St Gildas, St Renan), others are known only to the inhabitants of a particular hamlet or village. Churches, chapels, and springs are dedicated to them and
sometimes (as in the region of Leon) there is a space enclosed by walls and consecrated to religion. These \i ôparish closesö\i0 contain a church, a calvary, a cemetery, an ossuary... At Guimiliau (sixteenth/seventeenth century) for instance, there is
a calvary made up of almost 200 carved granite figures representing the life of Christ.\par
